Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to compile, review and manage all the basic accounts payables functions within the accounting department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position includes the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
o Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
o Post data into accounting software
o Print and obtain signatures on all accounts payable checks and distribute as required
o Maintain all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and company accounts payable files
o Maintain all files for paid and unpaid invoices and statements
o Answer vendor inquiries, research invoice discrepancies, and review vendor statements
o Reconcile Petty Cash account
o Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision
o Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments
o Strong keyboard skills with complete accuracy required on all imputed data
o Requires basic clerical duties including filing, copying and scanning of documents
o Ability to maintain organized work area to insure timely and accurate work flow
o May be requested to work in other areas of the department as work flow dictates including ad hoc requests by Accounting Manager or Controller
Qualification/ Requirements
o Excellent customer service skills, responds promptly to internal/external requests for assistance and meets commitments
o Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and databases
o Ability to understand basic accounting functions
o Must be detail-oriented, able to follow up and pay close attention to accuracy
o Able to analyze information gathered in order to identify potential problems or discrepancies
o Basic business writing skills
o Must be able to handle multiple projects and tasks at the same time
o Full attention to detail is required to ensure the accuracy of input and results
o Maintain a regular and reliable level of attendance and punctuality
Education/Training/Experience
o Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
o Great Plains experience a plus

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
