As the senior member of the accounting team, prepare supporting schedules and journal entries to facilitate an accurate and timely monthly close process; reconcile general ledger balance sheet accounts; perform analysis of manufacturing costs in order to plan and control cost of goods sold, inventory level/value, over/under absorbed overhead, and gross profit/margin; manage intercompany entries and eliminations; support preparation and posting of payroll, allocations, accruals, and reversals; oversee preparation and submission of cost and milestone billings; prepare reports and variance analysis to communicate meaningful, insightful, actionable results to the Controller and Director of Finance and Corporate; support preparation of financial statements and other financial information for Corporate, Subsidiary Board of Directors Meetings, and external and internal auditors as needed; and provide department managers with financial and metric information as needed to assist in the execution of their responsibilities and the achievement of their budgets and objectives.
As a compliance champion, ensure business is conducted in a manner compliant with LightWorks Optical Systems and II-VI company policies and guidelines, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, federal acquisition regulations (FAR), defense FAR, and cost accounting standards (CAS) and ensure requirements are built into the business' day-to-day operations. Participate in internal and external audits.
Position Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Related Area
Experience:
Minimum seven years in manufacturing environment as a principal accountant, assistance controller, plant controller, business unit controller or similar position where both hands-on and oversight roles were performed.
Five of seven years in aerospace and defense (A&D) manufacturing environment a plus
Experience at $20M-$100M business or business unit of larger manufacturing companies (smaller for VLOC, larger for LWOS)
Experience as a positive impact individual, independent contributor as well as a team advisor and leader
Position Accountability:
Responsible for working with the Accounting Manager and Controller to ensure the monthly close is completed in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner and for translating raw accounting data into meaningful, insightful, and actionable management information to facilitate informed decision making. Responsible for being a champion of and contributor to continuous measurable improvement.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
